What to Expect During Your First Visit

In your first appointment at Bowen Medical Group, you and the therapist will get to know each other. With that being said, you can ask the therapist some questions which you think are important for your comfort and recovery. The Therapist will also ask necessary questions about your issues (i.e. health history, family background, life circumstances, if you sought any treatments in the past, and goals) and use that information to create a unique treatment plan for you.

Psychotherapy FAQs

  • What can you expect to be included in treatments? A treatment plan and different techniques of approach are included based on your issues discussed with the therapist. The kind of approach your therapist uses is specifically made for you.

  • When should you start and how many treatments do you need? Before starting an actual treatment, our administrative staff will send a consultation request that contains your information to the Psychotherapist with your consent and from there, the Psychotherapist will contact you, discuss the flow of the therapy, and you can ask questions about treatments. Here are the signs to consider when it is the right time to seek Psychotherapy:

    • You have trouble processing a certain issue in your life

    • You are not eating well

    • Uncontrolled negative emotions that impact important relationships in your life

    • Unable to function 100% at work or any important event

    • You experienced trauma

  • Are appointments available both in person and virtually (phone or video)? The number of treatments or the length of treatment will depend on the issue you currently have and the goals you and the therapist discussed on your first visit.

  • What benefits are there to virtual therapy for this service? Virtual therapy is as effective as a face-to-face appointment especially if you are anxious or uncomfortable about being seen in person. This mode of treatment breaks the stigma attached to mental health illness. However, some benefits are as follows:

    • Convenience

    • Comfort

    • Flexibility

    • Efficient

    • Wait times reduced

  • How is this service different from others? The focal point of Psychotherapy is specifically training the human mind or the “brain” on how to handle stressful situations when a certain trigger is evident. Different methods of stress management and emotion regulation will be discussed with your therapist.
